This is not our world, we are foreigners in a strange land, lawlessness rules this land, there is no respect for life, in our world.
The unborn are murdered as they wait to be born, the living are stalked and killed as they go about their day, people are killed because of their ethnicity or beliefs, those in authority over the last 30 years have diminished the value of life in America so much that it is a dangerous place too serve and protect our citizens, our cities have become war zones, and killing streets, places of worship have become slaughterhouses and mankind believes they can do anything and be justified because it is what they believe and they are right.
The enemy may seem bolder but in truth, we are just becoming more aware of his tactics, and with 24 hour world news it is in our face. The enemy uses the news feeds as propaganda, too mold the minds of those who watch and wait , whose eyes are blind whose hearts are turning to stone.
Every generation has seen the society they live in change, sometimes slowly others rapidly.I think of the world I grew up in now that I am in my 50s,and it has changed very rapidly at least outwardly.
Today’s world seems to be more violent, more selfish, more arrogant, bolder and definitely more unloving and hateful.
The truth is it has always been this way, it has always been getting worse day by day. As the world passes away slowly, it pulls away from God, for it is corrupted and serves a cruel taskmaster who blinds its eyes and steals the truth from its dying hands.
The more God’s children are silent, the more the truth is buried and not recognized, this is why we must speak of the good things of God of what He has done, of what He is doing and what He will do, if we don’t speak, who will?
From the moment Jesus ascended before the crowd of witnesses, mankind has been waiting on His return, and one day soon He will come again until then we need to be about our Heavenly Fathers business.
We must be the voice of one crying in the wilderness, to prepare the way for Christ return, how do we do this you ask?
Simple we share the gospel message one person at a time, we do our part and God will do His, we aren’t going to save the world but God made a way that through His Son Christ Jesus so the world can be saved, we just need too tell them ,and let them see Him in us.
Don’t get discouraged, don’t loose heart, keep fighting the good fight of faith and know that God is in control.
God’s word says this:
“While he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached him privately and said, “Tell us, when will these things happen? And what is the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” Jesus replied to them: “Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and they will deceive many. You are going to hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, because these things must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these events are the beginning of labor pains. “Then they will hand you over to be persecuted, and they will kill you. You will be hated by all nations because of my name. Then many will fall away, betray one another, and hate one another. Many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. Because lawlessness will multiply, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. This good news of the kingdom will be proclaimed in all the world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”Matthew 24:3-14 CSB
“Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him: We ask you, brothers and sisters, not to be easily upset or troubled, either by a prophecy or by a message or by a letter supposedly from us, alleging that the day of the Lord has come. Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way. For that day will not come unless the apostasy comes first and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he sits in God’s temple, proclaiming that he himself is God. “Don’t you remember that when I was still with you I used to tell you about this?”And you know what currently restrains him, so that he will be revealed in his time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work, but the one now restraining will do so until he is out of the way, and then the lawless one will be revealed. The Lord Jesus will destroy him with the breath of his mouth and will bring him to nothing at the appearance of his coming. The coming of the lawless one is based on Satan’s working, with all kinds of false miracles, signs, and wonders, and with every wicked deception among those who are perishing. They perish because they did not accept the love of the truth and so be saved.”
2 Thessalonians 2:1-10 CSB
“He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” After he had said this, he was taken up as they were watching, and a cloud took him out of their sight. While he was going, they were gazing into heaven, and suddenly two men in white clothes stood by them. They said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up into heaven? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come in the same way that you have seen him going into heaven.” Acts 1:7-11 CSB
“so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Anyone who believes in him is not condemned, but anyone who does not believe is already condemned because he has not believed in the name of the one and only Son of God.”John 3:15-18 CSB
Forgiving someone is not about their character, actions or how they live, forgiving someone is about our character, our actions and how we live.
If you’re a child of God, forgiveness is not a suggestion it is a command, it should be a part of who we are without question.
Yes people will hurt us, intentionally maybe or unintentionally, but we who have been forgiven for every sin, past, present and future cannot hold this over someone for God has completely forgiven us.
Jesus came not to be worshipped as a baby, not to be celebrated as a teacher or wise philosopher, He came to cleanse us of our unrighteousness, to forgive us of our sins against God, He came to reconnect us to the Father and be our Lord and Savior. He is the only one who can forgive us of our sins and reconcile us to God the Father.
Each of us is guilty before God of sin, without the forgiveness of Christ and the shedding of His blood on the cross we can’t be forgiven, we did nothing to earn this forgiveness, nor do we deserve this forgiveness, or should we receive it continually every day.
But God in His grace gives it too us freely.
Our world holds onto things that separate us from God, and each other we are an unforgiving people.
We as Christians must be the example of forgiveness, for we are the sons and daughters of God, we are to be examples of His love, grace, and forgiveness every day.
Giving the gift of forgiveness may not be easy, but with the grace of God and the help of the Holy Spirit, we can forgive others as Christ the Son has forgiven us.
God’s word says this:
“Then one of the Pharisees invited him to eat with him. He entered the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table. And a woman in the town who was a sinner found out that Jesus was reclining at the table in the Pharisee’s house. She brought an alabaster jar of perfume and stood behind him at his feet, weeping, and began to wash his feet with her tears. She wiped his feet with her hair, kissing them and anointing them with the perfume. When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “This man, if he were a prophet, would know who and what kind of woman this is who is touching him — she’s a sinner!” Jesus replied to him, “Simon, I have something to say to you.” He said, “Say it, teacher.” “A creditor had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. Since they could not pay it back, he graciously forgave them both. So, which of them will love him more?” Simon answered, “I suppose the one he forgave more.” “You have judged correctly,” he told him. Turning to the woman, he said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave me no water for my feet, but she, with her tears, has washed my feet and wiped them with her hair. You gave me no kiss, but she hasn’t stopped kissing my feet since I came in. You didn’t anoint my head with olive oil, but she has anointed my feet with perfume. Therefore I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven; that’s why she loved much. But the one who is forgiven little loves little.” Then he said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” Those who were at the table with him began to say among themselves, “Who is this man who even forgives sins?” And he said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.””Luke 7:36-50 CSB
“Wallowing in shame, remorse, self-hatred, and guilt over real or imagined failings in our past lives betrays a distrust in the love of God. It shows that we have not accepted the acceptance of Jesus Christ and thus have rejected the total sufficiency of his redeeming work. Preoccupation with our past sins, present weaknesses, and character defects gets our emotions churning in self-destructive ways, closes us within the mighty citadel of self, and preempts the presence of a compassionate God.” Brennan Manning, Ruthless Trust.’
Every human being ever born of man and even the first two who were created failed.
That is a long line of failures in our DNA. We are each born with this messed up past because we all have descended from Adam and Eve.
This does not define who we are though, what defines who we are is how and who we choose to believe.
It is true we are born the same way, and we all have everything in common, we are all born into depravity away from God, we all share the same air we breathe, we all share the same water we drink, we all share the same earth we live on, the same sun shines on each of us, and Christ came to save us all.
But not all will respond to Christ the same way, they will let the past control their today and tomorrow, (here is the truth no matter what you do or say the past is over it will not change), but we can change ,when we take our hearts and minds off the failures of our past and let God work through them to change our lives and the lives of those around us.
Failed business adventures, relationships, financial decisions, family’s, and other things are only temporary setbacks, they are building blocks of life in a fallen world. It doesn’t matter where you’re born in poverty or wealth, in America or the Congo we all share in these character traits and commonalities.
We need to get over ourselves, get up and press on, take what God has done and is doing and live in His presence, His promises, His power.
Scripture gives us example after example of failed people who learned too forget the past and live by faith in God, surrendering all things to Him no matter their own character flaws.
God's word says this;
“Now without faith, it is impossible to please God, since the one who draws near to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. By faith Noah, after he was warned about what was not yet seen and motivated by godly fear, built an ark to deliver his family. By faith, he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith. By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed and set out for a place that he was going to receive as an inheritance. He went out, even though he did not know where he was going. By faith he stayed as a foreigner in the land of promise, living in tents as did Isaac and Jacob, coheirs of the same promise.....By faith, even Sarah herself, when she was unable to have children, received power to conceive offspring, even though she was past the age since she considered that the one who had promised was faithful....But they now desire a better place — a heavenly one. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.” Hebrews 11:6-9, 11, 16 CSB
Noah liked to drink, Abraham came from a family who drank, worshipped false gods, he was also a liar and struggled in his faith until he surrendered to God, Sarah laughed and doubted God’s promise when she was told she would be a mother, Jacob was a liar and thief, a swindler of swindlers, but each of them learned to turn over their past, surrender their lives to God, their past, their failures did not define who they were, God did and called them His sons and daughters, just as He does us
God’s word says; “Jesus responded,
It is time we learned to let go of what we cannot change and change who we trust in, if we have been accepted by Christ then we need too live like it, we are temporary residents on our way home don’t let the chains of the past slow you down or stop you for if Christ has set you free, you’re free.
I am NOT a Republican I am NOT a Democrat, I refuse to be labeled by anyone, we do Not need the government to Lord over us;ever.
We do need God to govern the affairs of our lives He has put Himself in us to do so, and given us His Holy word to instruct us on how to live, we must live in obedience to Him, our lives are not our own, and they belong to no other than Him.
We pray for health issues, we pray for financial issues, we pray for social issues, when we should first pray for heart issues, our own and then others.
Let revival start in our hearts, and surrender all to Christ, then He will change those around us, as He is changing us and His glory will shine.
God's word says this:
“God, create a clean heart for me and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”
Psalms 51:10 CSB
“Don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought at a price. So glorify God with your body.”
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 CSB
“How happy are those whose way is blameless, who walk according to the Lord’s instruction! Happy are those who keep his decrees and seek him with all their heart. They do nothing wrong; they walk in his ways. You have commanded that your precepts be diligently kept. If only my ways were committed to keeping your statutes! Then I would not be ashamed when I think about all your commands. I will praise you with an upright heart when I learn your righteous judgments. I will keep your statutes; never abandon me. How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping your word. I have sought you with all my heart; don’t let me wander from your commands. I have treasured your word in my heart so that I may not sin against you. Lord, may you be blessed; teach me your statutes.”
Psalms 119:1-12 CSB
There is no greater power we have than living and praying in the will of God. For when we are in God’s will, nothing is impossible.
How foolishly we live in our power, which is useless, we are weak Christ is strong, we are fallible, Christ is in-fallible, we are overcome by sin, death and the world, Christ has overcome sin, death and the world.
Why would we dwell in the mud and eat slop, when we are invited to set at the table and feast with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords?
Why oh Lord do we continue in our flesh, live in our weakness when we can truly live in you?
Show me my foolishness, change my ways, may I live in your power, walk in your truths, love as you love and never again dwell in my flesh.
God's word says this:
“Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you know me, you will also know my Father. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” “Lord,” said Philip, “show us the Father, and that’s enough for us.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been among you all this time and you do not know me, Philip? The one who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I speak to you I do not speak on my own. The Father who lives in me does his works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Otherwise, believe because of the works themselves. “Truly I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do. And he will do even greater works than these because I am going to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it. “If you love me, you will keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever. He is the Spirit of truth. The world is unable to receive him because it doesn’t see him or know him. But you do know him, because he remains with you and will be in you. “I will not leave you as orphans; I am coming to you. In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me. Because I live, you will live too. On that day you will know that I am in my Father, you are in me, and I am in you. The one who has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. And the one who loves me will be loved by my Father. I also will love him and will reveal myself to him.” Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, how is it you’re going to reveal yourself to us and not to the world?” Jesus answered, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. The one who doesn’t love me will not keep my words. The word that you hear is not mine but is from the Father who sent me. “I have spoken these things to you while I remain with you. But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have told you. “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Don’t let your heart be troubled or fearful. You have heard me tell you, ‘I am going away and I am coming to you.’ If you loved me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than Ithe John 14:6-28 CSB
“For freedom, Christ set us free. Stand firm then and don’t submit again to a yoke of slavery.
For we eagerly await through the Spirit, by faith, the hope of righteousness. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision accomplishes anything; what matters is faith working through love.
For you were called to be free, brothers and sisters; only don’t use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but serve one another through love.
I say then, walk by the Spirit and you will certainly not carry out the desire of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is against the Spirit, and the Spirit desires what is against the flesh; these are opposed to each other, so that you don’t do what you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, moral impurity, promiscuity, idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambitions, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, carousing, and anything similar. I am warning you about these things — as I warned you before — that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The law is not against such things. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.” Galatians 5:1, 5-6, 13, 16-26 CSB
While those around us are becoming increasingly hostile and hateful, we brothers and sisters must become increasingly holy.
Some are fearful of the times we live in, but as a child of God, I do not fear for me, but for those who reject God's grace, and love. For perilous times are truly coming, what we face now is nothing more than birth pains, soon the world will know what the wrath of God is when He rejects them as they have rejected Him.
People may laugh and mock, they may kill followers of Christ, but in the end, they will feel the judgment of God and fear Him, and they to will bow before Christ and confess Him as Lord.
The good news is that if you're reading this, the invitation for you to come to Christ is still open and today you can receive Him into your life as LORD and Savior.
Without Him, there is no hope and it becomes your choice to receive the punishment of sin, death. Only with Christ is there no condemnation and eternal life.
Believe what you want, but don't waste another breath for it could be your last one!
The first step to salvation is acknowledging we are sinners, Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." We have all sinned. We have all done things that are displeasing to God.
There is no one who is innocent. Romans 6:23, teaches us about the consequences of sin - "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
The punishment that we deserve for our sins is death. Not just physical death, but eternal death!
The second part of Romans 6:23 tell us ”but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Only in Christ is life everlasting found.
Romans 5:8 tells us, "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Jesus Christ died for us! Jesus' death paid for the price of our sins. Jesus' resurrection proves that God accepted Jesus' death as the payment for our sins.
Now you know we are all sinners, the penalty for sin is death, but the gift of God eternal life comes through a relationship with Christ Jesus, who while we where His enemy took our punishment and died in our place for our sin, now look at Romans 10:9, "that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."
Because of Jesus' death on our behalf, all we have to do is believe in Him, and confess Him as Lord and Savior trusting His death as the payment for our sins - and we will be saved!
Romans 10:13 says it again, "for everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Jesus died to pay the penalty for our sins and rescue us from eternal death. Salvation, the forgiveness of sins, is available to anyone who will trust in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
The final truth of believing in Christ as LORD and Savior are the results of salvation. Romans 5: 1, "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." Through Jesus Christ, we can have a relationship of peace with God. Romans 8:1 teaches us, "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." Because of Jesus' death on our behalf, we will never be condemned for our sins.
Here is a simple prayer you can pray to God. Saying this prayer is a way to declare to God that you are relying on Jesus Christ for your salvation. The words themselves will not save you.
Only faith in Jesus Christ can provide salvation! "God, I know that I have sinned against you and am deserving of punishment. But Jesus Christ took the punishment that I deserve so that through faith in Him I could be forgiven. With your help, I place my trust in You for salvation. Thank You for Your wonderful grace and forgiveness - the gift of eternal life! Amen!"
God's word says this:
“Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all slander. Like newborn infants, desire the pure milk of the word, so that you may grow up into your salvation if you have tasted that the Lord is good. As you come to him, a living stone — rejected by people but chosen and honored by God — you yourselves, as living stones, a spiritual house, are being built to be a holy priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For it stands in Scripture: See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and honored cornerstone, and the one who believes in him will never be put to shame. So honor will come to you who believe; but for the unbelieving, The stone that the builders rejected — this one has become the cornerstone, and A stone to stumble over, and a rock to trip over. They stumble because they disobey the word; they were destined for this. But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. 1 Peter 2:1-10 CSB
“Meanwhile, a crowd of many thousands came together, so that they were trampling on one another. He began to say to his disciples first, “Be on your guard against the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. There is nothing covered that won’t be uncovered, nothing hidden that won’t be made known. Therefore, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in an ear in private rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops. “I say to you, my friends, don’t fear those who kill the body, and after that can do nothing more. But I will show you the one to fear: Fear him who has authority to throw people into hell after death. Yes, I say to you, this is the one to fear!
“And I say to you, anyone who acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge him before the angels of God, but whoever denies me before others will be denied before the angels of God. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but the one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. Whenever they bring you before synagogues and rulers and authorities, don’t worry about how you should defend yourselves or what you should say. For the Holy Spirit will teach you at that very hour what must be said.” Luke 12:1-5, 8-12 CSB
“All these events are the beginning of labor pains. This good news of the kingdom will be proclaimed in all the world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” Matthew 24:8-14 CSB
When we believe God is good and know that whatever He does He is doing so to perfect us and conform us into the image of His Son, then we will endure temporary setbacks, when we view them in light of eternity no matter what we face now, we understand it is only a flash of light across the sky.
Let us never focus on our circumstances, instead focus on Christ His goodness, love, and grace.
God leads us where we never expected to go, so He can accomplish what we can never do on our own without Him.
We are simply passing from this death we now dwell in, to life eternal with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
God’s word says this:
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment on but has passed from death to life. John 5:24
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
We have it backward in our culture, we fear the battles we face instead of fearing God, if God sends us into battle we have nothing to fear, for if God is for us who can be against us?
Joshua, Caleb, and David were three great warriors, they fought great battles and had great victories because they sought the Lord first, walked in obedience with Him and never feared their enemy for they knew God was with them.
When we walk in obedience with God, we need not fear the battle for God will fight for us, He is our strength, shield, and victory.
Joshua marched around an impenetrable fortress seven days and it fell, Caleb at eighty-five years old asked God to give him the land He promised him, David, as a teen faced Goliath as the armies of Israel cowered.
We cower from the fight when the enemy shows his claws or teeth, we should instead stand strong in the Lord.
Jesus said the gates of hell will not prevail against His Church, we are the Church we need to walk in obedience to Christ and walk in the victory He gives us daily, the battle is more than we can face, the battle is real, don't cower or run away from it, instead seek Christ, seek His strength, His words, His wisdom and know that He alone has overcome sin, death, the world, and the devil and in Christ we are more than conquerors we can walk in the valley of the shadow of death and fear no evil, we can set and feast in the presence of our enemy for the Lord God is our protection we need not fear where He leads us, we must only trust Him.
God's word says this:
“For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.’”Deuteronomy 20:4
Read Joshua 6: for the story of Jericho
Read Joshua 14: for the Story of Caleb
Read 1 Samuel 17: for the story of David
“And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will have been loosed in heaven.” Matthew 16:18-19 CSB
“I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world.”John 16:33 CSB
“What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He did not even spare his own Son but offered him up for us all. How will he not also with him grant us everything? Who can bring an accusation against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies. Who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is the one who died, but even more, has been raised; he also is at the right hand of God and intercedes for us. Who can separate us from the love of Christ? Can affliction or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: Because of you we are being put to death all day long; we are counted as sheep to be slaughtered. No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”Romans 8:31-39 CSB
The bond of all Christians is Christ, our hope, our faith, our forgiveness, our redemption, our salvation is all and only in Him.
This bond is forged in the fires of adversity, in the flames of fellowship and in the power of God’s word, this bond is unbreakable, but when we become isolated it can be shaken no wonder the early church met daily and broke bread, took care of one another and worshipped together.
We may have fancy buildings, and worship bands, we may have extraordinary speakers come in and share with us, but do we have the desire to serve and honor God in all we do? To grow in His grace and knowledge every day? Do we hunger for His word? Do we long to walk with Him humbly each day in obedience? Do we seek Him? Do we long to be together in Him?
How is our relationship with other believers, are we wanting to be with them and speak of the things of God? Do we encourage one another, sing songs of praise to God above for He alone is worthy!
Oh my brothers and sisters let us not think too highly of ourselves and boast of all we have, let's not live in past accomplishments but let us press on, spur on one another and gather together to remind each other of who our God is, who we are in Christ, and boast of His works through the Holy Spirit, let's not forget the fellowship we are called to, let us fan the flames of faith and spread the gospel to our communities and encourage one another.
God did not create us to do life alone, the devil wants to isolate you and keep you from the body of Christ, God says come and see all I have created you to be, see what plans I have for you, come to grow together and see My glory.
God's word says this:
“Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have boldness to enter the sanctuary through the blood of Jesus — he has inaugurated for us a new and living way through the curtain (that is, through his flesh ) — and since we have a great high priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed in pure water. Let us hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering, since he who promised is faithful. And let us watch out for one another to provoke love and good works, not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching.”Hebrews 10:19-25 CSB
“So those who accepted his message were baptized, and that day about three thousand people were added to them. They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and signs were being performed through the apostles. Now all the believers were together and held all things in common. They sold their possessions and property and distributed the proceeds to all, as any had need. Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple, and broke bread from house to house. They ate their food with joyful and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. Every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.”
Acts 2:41-47 CSB
“Pay careful attention, then, to how you live — not as unwise people but as wise — making the most of the time, because the days are evil. So don’t be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. And don’t get drunk with wine, which leads to reckless living, but be filled by the Spirit: speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music with your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of Christ.”Ephesians 5:15-21 CSB
We live in an age of information overload, from smartphones, tablets, 24-hour news channels, social media, newspapers and magazines, and our family and friends we are under a constant siege of information.
The problem is this it is mostly negative, and negative information produces negative people, negative people produces a negative society and a negative society soon falls; for morality and thought are replaced with emotions and ideology.
This is where we are today.
People are so divided and driven by the negativity that they can no longer decipher the truth from lies, and in reality, they no longer want to, they are driven by the idea that they are right and you are wrong, end of the story, even when presented with overwhelming facts they refuse to see.
God in His wisdom for all ages told us to remain sober-minded, to take our thoughts captive, to be self controlled, the only way we can do this is with His help, with His word, with the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit.
When a person is drunk, they lose the ability to think clearly, they are controlled by their emotions and thoughts, according to FBI stats 80% of crimes committed in America are alcohol related, because people lose control of their reasoning and thinking.
This same process is happening now without alcohol because people are being manipulated and controlled by the constant flow of negativity in this nation, and rational, clear thinking is being replaced by I am right, you are wrong.
As Christians we cannot fall into this trap, we have the Holy Spirit, the Word of God, and each other to turn to. We of all people must remain sober-minded, grounded in the gospel, holding onto the truth of God's word and standing strong in our faith. Remember we used to walk that way, but by God’s grace, He saved us so we can share His light and love, let’s not act the same way as the world but rather show them a better way.
Today ask God who gives wisdom freely to lead you through the fields of deception and guide you in all truth, turn off the negative, plug into His word, join a Bible Study or a life group that is focused on Holy living,be heavenly minded and share the good news of Christ Jesus with a world desperate for truth, it is exhilarating, freeing and joyful to do so.
God’s word says this:
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith. For God’s wrath is revealed from heaven against all godlessness and unrighteousness of people who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth, since what can be known about God is evident among them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, that is, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen since the creation of the world, being understood through what he has made. As a result, people are without excuse. For though they knew God, they did not glorify him as God or show gratitude. Instead, their thinking became worthless, and their senseless hearts were darkened. “Claiming to be wise, they became fools”and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man, birds, four-footed animals, and reptiles. Therefore God delivered them over in the desires of their hearts to sexual impurity, so that their bodies were degraded among themselves. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served what has been created instead of the Creator, who is praised forever. Amen.”Romans 1:16-25 CSB
“And you were dead in your trespasses and sins in which you previously lived according to the ways of this world, according to the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit now working in the disobedient. We too all previously lived among them in our fleshly desires, carrying out the inclinations of our flesh and thoughts, and we were by nature children under wrath as the others were also. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love that he had for us, made us alive with Christ even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace! He also raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavens in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might display the immeasurable riches of his grace through his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift — not from works, so that no one can boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.”
Ephesians 2:1-10 CSB
“Therefore, with your minds ready for action, be sober-minded and set your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the desires of your former ignorance. But as the one who called you is holy, you also are to be holy in all your conduct; for it is written, Be holy, because I am holy.”
1 Peter 1:13-16 CSB
“Be sober-minded, be alert. Your adversary the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour. Resist him, firm in the faith, knowing that the same kind of sufferings are being experienced by your fellow believers throughout the world. The God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, establish, strengthen, and support you after you have suffered a little while.”
1 Peter 5:8-10 CSB
Yesterday is a cruel taskmaster that reminds us only of who we were.
Tomorrow is a liar whose day has not yet come.
Today is the day we are given to live as if it were our last, love in each moment, lead in all confidence, worship Christ our creator with all we are.
I don't know about you but my enemies are always reminding me of days gone by, or trying too deceive me into believing that tomorrow holds great trial and tribulations, it is a constant battle of spirit and flesh.
The Holy Spirit on the other hand says gently and with all authority, yes that is who you were but Christ bore your judgment upon the cross and the Father accepted His sacrifice for your sins, you are forgiven and free from those days, your sins are forgotten as well.
The Holy Spirit also reminds me that only God knows what tomorrow will hold and that He is with me and will never leave me or forsake me, that I am safe in the Hands of God my Father.
Our enemies the flesh, the world, the devil and his army are powerful, are many and for us unbeatable, they hide like assassins in plain sight waiting to ambush, to overtake to kill, steal and destroy.
No one is immune to these attacks, not one of us are infallible, we are all daily walking a fine line of grace, mercy and faith, this is why we must without fail renew our minds daily, never take the full armor of God off, pray constantly, be sober minded, lay aside every hindrance of this world, stand strong in the faith.
These are all commands we are given because God knows our weaknesses and He says that He gives us a way out when we are tempted. The devil knows our weaknesses and he says go ahead no one will know.
How we respond in life makes the difference, we must resolve in our hearts to follow Christ no matter what to walk with Him and in His word every moment of every day without fail.
The world, the flesh, the devil and his army are overbearing, and can be overtaking, but God never gives us more than He can handle.
Christ defeated the world, the flesh and the devil and his army, keep your eyes on Him your hope in Him and walk by the grace He gives us daily through His eternal gift of salvation.
God's word says this:
“I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world.”
John 16:33 CSB
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus, because the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death. What the law could not do since it was weakened by the flesh, God did. He condemned sin in the flesh by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh as a sin offering, in order that the law’s requirement would be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit have their minds set on the things of the Spirit. Now the mind-set of the flesh is death, but the mind-set of the Spirit is life and peace. The mind-set of the flesh is hostile to God because it does not submit to God’s law. Indeed, it is unable to do so. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. You, however, are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to him.” Romans 8:1-9 CSB
“Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by his vast strength. Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this darkness, against evil, spiritual forces in the heavens. For this reason take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand. Stand, therefore, with truth like a belt around your waist, righteousness like armor on your chest, and your feet sandaled with readiness for the gospel of peace.”In every situation take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit — which is the word of God. Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints.”Ephesians 6:10-18 CSB
“For although we live in the flesh, we do not wage war according to the flesh, since the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but are powerful through God for the demolition of strongholds. We demolish arguments and every proud thing that is raised up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to obey Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 CSB
“Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every hindrance and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith. For the joy that lay before him, he endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”Hebrews 12:1-2 CSB
