When pain turns to pity our soul is in despair, when we give our pain to God, He will turn it into praise and lift our soul up into His presence where joy is everlasting and darkness flees.
Sometimes when we suffer or we see the suffering of others it is tempting to come up with quick explanations.
Truth is we don’t always know why, things happen except this, sin and death entered our world through Adam, and they affect everyone, no one escapes their claws.
But just as sin and death entered through Adam, forgiveness and life comes through Christ, who defeated sin and death at the cross, and they are available to all mankind.
We are all dying, one breath at a time, nothing can stop the process, except the Lord, come back and take us all home together!
Don’t fear what lays before us, embrace it. It is said until we embrace our own mortality, we will never learn how to live.
Take the pain of this life and give it to God, He alone can relate to all we go through, He alone can bring peace and turn our pain into praise.
There are no human answers to some questions, there are no substitutes for the peace of God, there is only His comfort and peace and He gives that individually to those who seek and ask.
Job’s life was filled with prosperity and praise, then it turned upside down in a matter of moments, when he cried out from his heart, he cries out to God, ‘I could only plead with my Judge for mercy’ (v.15).
When doubts arise ask God for faith, when anger fuels up inside us, ask God for peace, when struggles seem to chain us, ask God for grace.
We have a Heavenly Father who listens, who cares, who sustains our lives, and He is in every second of our lives, isn’t it time we turn to Him?
Boldly approach His throne today ask God for His help, His peace, His strength, His hope, His mercy and He will fill your hearts with them.
God’s word says this!
“Does God pervert justice? Does the Almighty pervert what is right?
But if you earnestly seek God and ask the Almighty for mercy,
Look, God does not reject a person of integrity, and he will not support evildoers. He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with a shout of joy. Your enemies will be clothed with shame; the tent of the wicked will no longer exist.” Job 8:3,5, 20-22 CSB
“Yes, I know what you’ve said is true, but how can a person be justified before God? If one wanted to take him to court, he could not answer God once in a thousand times. God is wise and all-powerful. Who has opposed him and come out unharmed? He removes mountains without their knowledge, overturning them in his anger. He shakes the earth from its place so that its pillars tremble. He commands the sun not to shine and seals off the stars. He alone stretches out the heavens and treads on the waves of the sea. He makes the stars: the Bear, Orion, the Pleiades, and the constellations of the southern sky. He does great and unsearchable things, wonders without number. If he passed by me, I wouldn’t see him; if he went by, I wouldn’t recognize him. If he snatches something, who can stop him? Who can ask him, “What are you doing?” God does not hold back his anger; Rahab’s assistants cringe in fear beneath him! How then can I answer him or choose my arguments against him? Even if I were in the right, I could not answer. I could only beg my Judge for mercy.
If it is a matter of strength, look, he is the powerful one! If it is a matter of justice, who can summon him? Even if I were in the right, my own mouth would condemn me; if I were blameless, my mouth would declare me guilty.” Job 9:2-15, 19-20 CSB
“Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, in this way death spread to all people, because all sinned. In fact, sin was in the world before the law, but sin is not charged to a person’s account when there is no law. Nevertheless, death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who did not sin in the likeness of Adam’s transgression. He is a type of the Coming One. But the gift is not like the trespass. For if by the one man’s trespass the many died, how much more have the grace of God and the gift which comes through the grace of the one man Jesus Christ overflowed to the many. And the gift is not like the one man’s sin, because from one sin came the judgment, resulting in condemnation, but from many trespasses came the gift, resulting in justification. Since by the one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive the overflow of grace and the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ. So then, as through one trespass there is condemnation for everyone, so also through one righteous act there is justification leading to life for everyone. For just as through one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so also through the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous. The law came along to multiply the trespass. But where sin multiplied, grace multiplied even more so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace will reign through righteousness, resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 5:12-21 CSB
“Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens — Jesus the Son of God — let us hold fast to our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin. Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need.” Hebrews 4:14-16 CSB
We often think that when conflict, turmoil or troubles come into our life that we are alone or abandoned by God, we may even feel we are being chastised by Him, in these times our hearts and mind wander, and fear can overtake us as we feel we are being overwhelmed.
God’s word tells us though that we will have conflict, not that we might, the good news is He tells us also that He is with us and He will never leave us or abandon us. God uses these storms to help our faith grow, to draw us closer to Him if we have no trials, we will never experience God’s triumphs in our lives.
It is in life’s storms we learn to trust God, trust in His love, His provisions, His protection, His faithfulness, His mercy, and grace.
In Matthew, we see where the disciples followed Jesus onto the boat, and a violent storm came upon them at sea.
They were simply following Christ, don’t miss that, they were following Christ!
God never promised us a peachy, comfortable life if that is what you are looking for you have been misled, He promised us an eternity with Him and His eternal love.
Our lives are filled with conflict because of our enemy, who brought the curse of God in this world, this is why we battle daily sin and death.
David reminds us that even though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, God will comfort us and protect us, Jesus said the gates of hell will not prevail against us, and that He will be with us even to the ends of the age.
If you are in the middle of a storm right now, call upon the name of Jesus, know He is with you and find peace and comfort in Him and His words, do not fear stand strong in your faith. He is with us, He is in us and we are in Him.
God’s word says this:
“As he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. Suddenly, a violent storm arose on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves — but Jesus kept sleeping. So the disciples came and woke him up, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to die!” He said to them, “Why are you afraid, you of little faith?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the sea obey him!” Matthew 8:23-27 CSB
“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever. He is the Spirit of truth. The world is unable to receive him because it doesn’t see him or know him. But you do know him because he remains with you and will be in you. “I will not leave you as orphans; I am coming to you.
On that day you will know that I am in my Father, you are in me, and I am in you.
“I have spoken these things to you while I remain with you. But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have told you.” John 14:16-18, 20, 25-26 CSB
“I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world.” John 16:33 CSB
I think most of the time we pray more for our wants and not our daily needs because we don’t understand our dependency on God.
When we come to the knowledge of how much we depend on God, we will learn to walk closer with Him and pray as we walk in faith.
Sadly most people pray without faith, but even worse there are people of faith who do not pray!
We cannot afford to live a life without prayer, or faith. Prayer puts our lives in perspective when we pray we are surrendering the areas we pray over into God’s hands and listening to Him is our faith.
Prayer is walking in obedience and faith, to God’s will in our lives, Lord help us, hold us close so we will not stray as in this life, help us walk in faith and obedience to you, let the Holy Spirit lead us each day as we pray, draw us closer to you.
God’s word says this:
“Ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Who among you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him. Therefore, whatever you want others to do for you, do also the same for them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 7:7-12 CSB
“And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, then he who raised Christ from the dead will also bring your mortal bodies to life through his Spirit who lives in you. So then, brothers and sisters, we are not obligated to the flesh to live according to the flesh, because if you live according to the flesh, you are going to die. But if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For all those led by God’s Spirit are God’s sons. For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear. Instead, you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father!”Romans 8:11-15 CSB
“Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God — who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly — and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith without doubting. For the doubter is like the surging sea, driven and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord, being double-minded and unstable in all his ways.”James 1:5-8 CSB
Have we strayed so far from God, that there is no way back? I don't believe so, yet. But we have strayed far from God, and there are consequences for our unbelief, our rebellion and disobedience, and the innocent suffer along with the guilty.
Look around and see God’s judgment falling upon this Nation, there is more violence, hate, wickedness and discord in our Nation and we are rapidly dividing.
We do not value life as the priceless gift from God as it is, we have very little morals left as a society, people take what is not theirs, our leaders lie, steal and cheat to us and each other, and their followers, we are surrounded by evil forces that rule and control the hearts of mankind.
No laws will protect people, no agency will protect people, there is no force on this earth that can protect people or provide security and safety from the coming judgment of God.
Until we turn from our ways, repent and turn to God ask for forgiveness, mercy, grace, wisdom and learn to walk in His way, we will live in a cursed land.
Stop bickering, listening to lies, devouring each other, stop murdering unborn children, stop living in sinful relationships, stop killing one another, stop living life as we please and fall on our knees and confess our sins to God, then and only then will He will bring healing, restoration, peace and have mercy on our Nation.
We have been deceived, we think we live our life for ourselves, we are to live them for Christ. God created us in His image and the devil wants to destroy us because God favors mankind ,Christ did not die on the cross as a sacrifice for angels, He died and rose again as a sacrifice for mankind.
It is time we turned back to the only one who loves us sacrificially, unconditionally, eternally and follow Him.
God’s word says this:
“For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Anyone who believes in him is not condemned, but anyone who does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the one and only Son of God. This is the judgment: The light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than the light because their deeds were evil.”
John 3:16-19 CSB
“Now since the children have flesh and blood in common, Jesus also shared in these, so that through his death he might destroy the one holding the power of death — that is, the devil — and free those who were held in slavery all their lives by the fear of death. For it is clear that he does not reach out to help angels, but to help Abraham’s offspring.”Hebrews 2:14-16 CSB
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth....Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness. They will rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the livestock, the whole earth, and the creatures that crawl on the earth.” So God created man in his own image; he created him in the image of God; he created them male and female.” Genesis 1:1, 26-27 CSB
“There were indeed false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, and will bring swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow their depraved ways, and the way of truth will be maligned because of them. They will exploit you in their greed with made-up stories. Their condemnation, pronounced long ago, is not idle, and their destruction does not sleep. For if God didn’t spare the angels who sinned but cast them into hell and delivered them in chains of utter darkness to be kept for judgment; and if he didn’t spare the ancient world, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others, when he brought the flood on the world of the ungodly; and if he reduced the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to ashes and condemned them to extinction, making them an example of what is coming to the ungodly; and if he rescued righteous Lot, distressed by the depraved behavior of the immoral (for as that righteous man lived among them day by day, his righteous soul was tormented by the lawless deeds he saw and heard ) — then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment, especially those who follow the polluting desires of the flesh and despise authority. Bold, arrogant people! They are not afraid to slander the glorious ones; however, angels, who are greater in might and power, do not bring a slanderous charge against them before the Lord. But these people, like irrational animals — creatures of instinct born to be caught and destroyed — slander what they do not understand, and in their destruction they too will be destroyed. They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done. They consider it a pleasure to carouse in broad daylight. They are spots and blemishes, delighting in their deceptions while they feast with you. They have eyes full of adultery that never stop looking for sin. They seduce unstable people and have hearts trained in greed. Children under a curse! They have gone astray by abandoning the straight path and have followed the path of Balaam, the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of wickedness but received a rebuke for his lawlessness: A speechless donkey spoke with a human voice and restrained the prophet’s madness. These people are springs without water, mists driven by a storm. The gloom of darkness has been reserved for them. For by uttering boastful, empty words, they seduce, with fleshly desires and debauchery, people who have barely escaped from those who live in error. They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption, since people are enslaved to whatever defeats them. For if, having escaped the world’s impurity through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in these things and defeated, the last state is worse for them than the first. For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness than, after knowing it, to turn back from the holy command delivered to them. It has happened to them according to the true proverb: A dog returns to its own vomit, and, “A washed sow returns to wallowing in the mud.”
2 Peter 2:1-22 CSB
When we are born into the world, the world gives us our parents identity, when we are born again God gives us His identity.
The world wants to keep us down, it tells us we can only go so far, that life is of little to no value and that this is as good as it gets.
But God says He created us with purpose, out of love and when we come to Him, He calls us sons and daughters.
Life is fragile, each of us are given life by God, who creates us to bear His image, let no one tell you different. Our value is not in the eyes of our world, rather it is the heart of our Creator.
Choose who you will listen to today, the world which is passing away and wants to take us with it as it dies, or God who has no beginning or end, who is calling us to Him, to be with Him and live forever.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!” 2 Corinthians 5:17
“I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. All things were created through him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created. In him was life, and that life was the light of men.” John 1:1-4
“But to all who did receive him, he gave them the right to be children of God, to those who believe in his name, who were born, not of natural descent, or of the will of the flesh, or of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:12-13
“I chose you before I formed you in the womb; I set you apart before you were born. I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5
People think prayer can only be done in a ritualistic way, maybe even formal, or structured, they set their watches as if they are on a work schedule to bow down on their knees.
Prayer should not be a religious exercise, it is at its core a basic human necessity, like oxygen we will not survive without it.
We are called to pray we can never say, there is nothing we can do because we can pray at all times, we need to ask God to develop an attitude of prayer in our lives.
Prayer puts into perspective who God is in our lives.
For me, prayer is an intimate conversation with my Creator, my Lord, my Savior, my friend, whom I love. I talk and listen to Him, He shows me areas He is at work in my life, where I need to change then He changes me, He gives me strength and direction, this is why I listen and pray always, I would not make it without Him.
I pray before I get out of bed, I pray while driving, I pray while walking, I pray in crowds, I pray in solitude, I pray through the day. Our prayer life is only limited by our desire to know God, it is limited by us, it isn’t limited to any certain time or place where you have to have your eyes closed or repeat a ritual.
There are times we should get away and go to our closet and pray, we should have a time of reverence and awe of God, but limiting our conversations or listening to God in this way is not what Jesus meant.
We pray to the Creator of all things, and He listens, He cares, He loves us, individually, His love is personal and we should pray to Him without ceasing, everyone, everything, every day should be prayed for, all that we have, all that we are is because of the goodness and graciousness of God our Father.
My prayer life has increased as my relationship with God grows, I am depending on Him in all things so I pray to Him always about all things.
God’s word says this;
“Devote yourselves to prayer; stay alert in it with thanksgiving. At the same time, pray also for us that God may open a door to us for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains, so that I may make it known as I should. Act wisely toward outsiders, making the most of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you should answer each person.” Colossians 4:2-6 CSB
““Whenever you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites, because they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by people. Truly I tell you, they have their reward. But when you pray, go into your private room, shut your door, and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. When you pray, don’t babble like the Gentiles, since they imagine they’ll be heard for their many words. Don’t be like them, because your Father knows the things you need before you ask him. “Therefore, you should pray like this: Our Father in heaven, your name be honored as holy. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. “For if you forgive others their offenses, your heavenly Father will forgive you as well. But if you don’t forgive others, your Father will not forgive your offenses.” Matthew 6:5-15 CSB
“Let love be without hypocrisy. Detest evil; cling to what is good. Love one another deeply as brothers and sisters. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not lack diligence in zeal; be fervent in the Spirit; serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer. Share with the saints in their needs; pursue hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud; instead, associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own estimation. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Give careful thought to do what is honorable in everyone’s eyes. If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Friends, do not avenge yourselves; instead, leave room for God’s wrath, because it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. But If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him something to drink. For in so doing you will be heaping fiery coals on his head. Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good.”Romans 12:9-21 CSB
The devil may have your cell phone number, that doesn't mean you have to answer the call, or reply to his text!
The devil may have your email, that doesn't mean you have to respond to him!
The devil may have your home address, that doesn't mean you have to let him in!
The devil may send you a friend request, that doesn't mean you have to friend him!
Every opportunity the devil takes to gain access to your head and heart is all he can do until you let him in!
When Jesus is in your life, there is no room for the devil! Jesus said this:
”See! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.”
Revelation 3:20 CSB
Who are you letting in?
We can submit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, walk in freedom, love, grace, peace, and live an abundant life or we can submit to the lordship of the devil and be held in bondage, turmoil, rage, and fear.
Jesus taught us what to pray, and how to resist!
“Therefore, you should pray like this: Our Father in heaven, your name be honored as holy. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.”
Matthew 6:9-13 CSB
How often do you seek God's provision, protection and help in this way?
We live in a society that is against God and His children, to walk and live in it unprepared every day is foolish. Look the world wants to steal our identity, and silence us the devil wants to steal our identity and silence us, Christ is the only one who can give us an identity and give us the wisdom and live to speak, He calls us brother, sister, and friend.
We need to ask God to help us every day in knowing who we are in Him, with Him we overcome the world, without Him we are overcome.
God's word tells us resist the devil and he will flee from you! Resist means we call upon the name of the Lord and ask for His help!
“But he gives greater grace. Therefore he says: God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.”
James 4:6-8 CSB
None of us are above temptation, none of us are above falling into sin,
But all who call on the name of the Lord have the power of God's throne behind us, the power of the Holy Spirit in us, and the blood of Jesus covering us!
The next time the devil comes calling, tell him what Jesus said!
“Then Jesus told him, “Go away, Satan! For it is written: Worship the Lord your God and serve only him. ”Matthew 4:10 CSB
I will only follow Christ!
“Truly I tell you, anyone who doesn’t enter the sheep pen by the gate but climbs in some other way is a thief and a robber. The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. The gatekeeper opens it for him, and the sheep hear his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought all his own outside, he goes ahead of them. The sheep follow him because they know his voice. They will never follow a stranger; instead they will run away from him, because they don’t know the voice of strangers.” Jesus gave them this figure of speech, but they did not understand what he was telling them. Jesus said again, “Truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep didn’t listen to them. I am the gate. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will come in and go out and find pasture. A thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance. “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. The hired hand, since he is not the shepherd and doesn’t own the sheep, leaves them and runs away when he sees a wolf coming. The wolf then snatches and scatters them. This happens because he is a hired hand and doesn’t care about the sheep. “I am the good shepherd. I know my own, and my own know me, just as the Father knows me, and I know the Father. I lay down my life for the sheep. But I have other sheep that are not from this sheep pen; I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. Then there will be one flock, one shepherd. This is why the Father loves me, because I lay down my life so that I may take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down on my own. I have the right to lay it down, and I have the right to take it up again. I have received this command from my Father.””
John 10:1-18 CSB
“For the entire fullness of God’s nature dwells bodily in Christ, and you have been filled by him, who is the head over every ruler and authority. You were also circumcised in him with a circumcision not done with hands, by putting off the body of flesh, in the circumcision of Christ, when you were buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead. And when you were dead in trespasses and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, he made you alive with him and forgave us all our trespasses. He erased the certificate of debt, with its obligations, that was against us and opposed to us, and has taken it away by nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and disgraced them publicly; he triumphed over them in him.”
Colossians 2:9-15 CSB
God chose you and me to bear His image, to share His love to honor His name, He put you and me here now for others to see the light of His love.
God chose the color of our eyes, our hair, our skin, He did not choose the color of our hearts. Our hearts are colored with love or hate. Hate is the absence of love, it is a choice we make when we reject God, for God is love.
God’s love is the truth, His love bears the burden of our sin, mine and yours. This life is short, don't let anger, hate or un-forgiveness rule our hearts, or be our masters, surrender to God all that is His, which is all that we are and let His love shine in your life and in the life of others.
God put us where we are to shine His love into the darkness.
God’s word says this!
“The one who does not love does not know God, because God is love. God’s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his one and only Son into the world so that we might live through him. Love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, if God loved us in this way, we also must love one another.
And we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and the one who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him. In this, love is made complete with us so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment, because as he is, so also are we in this world. There is no fear in love; instead, perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. So the one who fears is not complete in love. We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God,” and yet hates his brother or sister, he is a liar. For the person who does not love his brother or sister whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And we have this command from him: The one who loves God must also love his brother and sister.”
1 John 4:8-11, 16-21 CSB
Prayer is not a substitute for obedience, prayer shows our love, trust, dependence, and submission to God.
I used to pray only when I needed God until I realized I needed God only, now I pray always!.
While we are set free from the penalty of sin as Christians we are not set free from our obligation to the obedience to Christ.Jesus said if you love me you will keep my word, if you love me you will keep my commands. We cannot walk in obedience outside of a strong prayer life.
God does not call us to perfection, He calls us to holiness, holiness leads us to obedience.
We will mislead ourselves by doing good works, reading scripture, praying or attending church and then living our lives as if God's word doesn't apply to us, as we walk in disobedience, this is exactly what the Pharisees and Sadducees did.
We will also mislead ourselves when we do everything right and think God owes us something.
God owes no man anything, He gives His mercy and grace freely, He gives blessings freely and He alone searches our hearts and knows our motives.
When we learn to walk by the Spirit of God, our lives will be in His will and His will is where we need to live, we pray thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, then trust God in your life.
It is time we live as we are called, let's stop looking at others and start looking at ourselves, let's live by the Spirit, and show the world who we belong to, Jesus!
God’s word says this;
“Then Samuel said: Does the Lord take pleasure in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord? Look: to obey is better than sacrifice, to pay attention is better than the fat of rams. For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and defiance is like wickedness and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, he has rejected you as king.”
1 Samuel 15:22-23 CSB
“If you love me, you will keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever. He is the Spirit of truth. The world is unable to receive him because it doesn’t see him or know him. But you do know him because he remains with you and will be in you.
Jesus answered, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. The one who doesn’t love me will not keep my words. The word that you hear is not mine but is from the Father who sent me.” John 14:15-17, 23-24 CSB
“This is how we know that we love God’s children: when we love God and obey his commands. For this is what love for God is: to keep his commands. And his commands are not a burden, because everyone who has been born of God conquers the world. This is the victory that has conquered the world: our faith.”1 John 5:2-4 CSB
Our good deeds won’t get us into heaven any more than our bad deeds can keep us out.
One bad decision doesn’t define our lives, but one good decision will define our eternity.
There is only one way to the Father and that is through Jesus Christ. For those who decide to put their faith in Him as their Lord and Savior, the question of where I will spend eternity is settled, forever.
For those who reject Him, they have chosen their eternity also.
Have you resolved in your heart the answer to the question, where will I spend eternity?
I have, for I have decided to follow Jesus all the way, all of my hope is in Him no turning back!
God’s word says this:
“Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, unless someone is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” “How can anyone be born when he is old?” Nicodemus asked him. “Can he enter his mother’s womb a second time and be born?” Jesus answered, “Truly I tell you, unless someone is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. Whatever is born of the flesh is flesh, and whatever is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be amazed that I told you that you must be born again. The wind blows where it pleases, and you hear its sound, but you don’t know where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.
For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Anyone who believes in him is not condemned, but anyone who does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the one and only Son of God.” John 3:3-8, 16-18 CSB
“Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me, even if he dies, will live. Everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”John 11:25-26 CSB
“Don’t let your heart be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if not, I would have told you. I am going away to prepare a place for you. If I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to myself, so that where I am you may be also. You know the way to where I am going.” “Lord,” Thomas said, “we don’t know where you’re going. How can we know the way?” Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you know me, you will also know my Father. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” John 14:1-7 CSB
God created us, individually. He chose our race, our sex, our eye and hair color, our parents, our birthplace and birthday He left no detail undone.
God did not choose our prejudice, our hatred, our selfishness, our pride or rebellion.
The problems we face as a society are because of the choices we make individually. We believe we are greater and wiser than God, God is not bound by our laws, we are bound by His laws, of life, nature, time and morality.
God’s word tells us we are fearfully and wonderfully made, created to bear His image, but our selfish rebellion leads us astray, we blindly follow our own ambitions and desires, mostly out of ignorance.
We must individually come to Him, repent of our sinful, prideful ways and learn His ways by surrendering our lives to Jesus, and giving into the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
God in His infinite grace, has mercy on us because of who He is, He is loving, long-suffering, merciful and good, most importantly He is Holy and righteous. We are none of these things and God knows that we are weak, and easily lead astray, therefore He made a way for each of us because none of us could make our way to Him.
Life on earth is short, one day we are here the next we slip into eternity for the laws of life are set, we are each given a number of days to live. Those who die without Christ are forever lost, those who die in Christ are forever with Him.
Now is the time, today is the day if your reading this the Holy Spirit is calling to you, Follow Me. Let's not be as stubborn as those around us, let's show those around us what a surrendered life to God looks like.
God’s word says this:
“For it was you who created my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will praise you because I have been remarkably and wondrously made. Your works are wondrous, and I know this very well. My bones were not hidden from you when I was made in secret when I was formed in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw me when I was formless; all my days were written in your book and planned before a single one of them began. God, how precious your thoughts are to me; how vast their sum is! If I counted them, they would outnumber the grains of sand; when I wake up, I am still with you.”Psalms 139:13-18 CSB
“Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, on the day of testing in the wilderness, where your fathers tested me, tried me, and saw my works for forty years. Therefore I was provoked to anger with that generation and said, “They always go astray in their hearts, and they have not known my ways.” So I swore in my anger, “They will not enter my rest.” Watch out, brothers and sisters, so that there won’t be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage each other daily, while it is still called today, so that none of you is hardened by sin’s deception. For we have become participants in Christ if we hold firmly until the end the reality that we had at the start. As it is said: Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”Hebrews 3:7-15 CSB
“Then Peter was filled with the Holy Spirit and said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders: If we are being examined today about a good deed done to a disabled man, by what means he was healed, let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified and whom God raised from the dead — by him this man is standing here before you healthy. This Jesus is the stone rejected by you builders, which has become the cornerstone. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved.”
Acts 4:8-12 CSB
“What is the source of wars and fights among you? Don’t they come from your passions that wage war within you? You desire and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and wage war. You do not have because you do not ask. You ask and don’t receive because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures. You adulterous people! Don’t you know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? So whoever wants to be the friend of the world becomes the enemy of God. Or do you think it’s without reason that the Scripture says: The spirit he made to dwell in us envies intensely? But he gives greater grace. Therefore he says: God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
So it is sin to know the good and yet not do it.” James 4:1-8, 17 CSB
Welcome to the New Year, new beginnings, new endings, new challenges, and triumphs await us.
Whatever this year brings, wherever this year leads, be encouraged and know the hands of God are upon you and your family.
We need to understand this; God will work in you before He works through you. God is always at work in the lives of His children, working on our behalf, conforming us into the image of Jesus.
We can have peace and rest in His love and care, meditate upon these verses and seek God in all you do in the New Year.
May you be blessed in 2019
Philippians 1:6 HCSB
I am sure of this, that He who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 1:29-30 HCSB
For it has been given to you on Christ’s behalf not only to believe in Him but also to suffer for Him, having the same struggle that you saw I had and now hear that I have.
Philippians 2:13 HCSB
For it is God who is working in you, enabling you both to desire and to work out His good purpose.
Philippians 3:4-10 HCSB
although I once also had confidence in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he has grounds for confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised the eighth day; of the nation of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew born of Hebrews; regarding the law, a Pharisee; regarding zeal, persecuting the church; regarding the righteousness that is in the law, blameless. But everything that was a gain to me, I have considered to be a loss because of Christ. More than that, I also consider everything to be a loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. Because of Him I have suffered the loss of all things and consider them filth, so that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own from the law, but one that is through faith in Christ — the righteousness from God based on faith. My goal is to know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,
Philippians 3:12-14 HCSB
Not that I have already reached the goal or am already fully mature, but I make every effort to take hold of it because I also have been taken hold of by Christ Jesus. Brothers, I do not consider myself to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead, I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God’s heavenly call in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:21 HCSB
He will transform the body of our humble condition into the likeness of His glorious body, by the power that enables Him to subject everything to Himself.
Philippians 4:4-9, 11-13, 19 HCSB
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your graciousness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable — if there is any moral excellence and if there is any praise — dwell on these things. Do what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you. I don’t say this out of need, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know both how to have a little, and I know how to have a lot. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being content — whether well fed or hungry, whether in abundance or in need. I am able to do all things through Him who strengthens me. And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
