What must God do to wake the church?
What must God do to stir our hearts to repentance and action? I truly believe our problem today is we are not desperate for God, we have not suffered, we have too many programs, we have too many idols, we are complacent, we are status quo. Sure we grumble and complain but we do this only because we have to change positions, we are becoming carnal glutens to be the same as the world and not seeking or serving the Lord When is the last time we cried out to God in desperation? We do not weep for lost souls, or for the innocent babies who are killed daily, for morality slipping away from the very foundations of our homes, in our culture and in our churches. How far must God take His Church before we realize we have fallen away from Him? Once great Nations that served the Lord like Israel, Rome, Great Britain, Spain, Germany, France, all once had great Armies, great wealth, great comforts, and enjoyed the providence of God but now they are skeletons of who they were. Are we destined to follow in the ways of man, away from God? Are we not desperate enough yet or broken enough to cry out to God, repent and turn from our ways and follow Him? Will we acknowledge our need for God, His mercy, grace, and love? We need to come together and fervently pray with broken hearts for how we have acted as God's children. We must ask God what Abraham did., "Will you indeed sweep away the righteous with the wicked? I have heard it said that ”As goes the Church so goes the Nation” we are seeing now in our culture as goes the Nation so goes the Church. This is not God's plan, remember this, God's judgment begins with the Church. We are called as Ambassadors, this means in all we do we represent God! God’s word says this: “Abraham stepped forward and said, “Will you really sweep away the righteous with the wicked? What if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away instead of sparing the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people who are in it? You could not possibly do such a thing: to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. You could not possibly do that! Won’t the Judge of the whole earth do what is just?” The Lord said, “If I find fifty righteous people in the city of Sodom, I will spare the whole place for their sake.” Then Abraham answered, “Since I have ventured to speak to my lord — even though I am dust and ashes — suppose the fifty righteous lack five. Will you destroy the whole city for lack of five?” He replied, “I will not destroy it if I find forty-five there.” Then he spoke to him again, “Suppose forty are found there?” He answered, “I will not do it on account of forty.” Then he said, “Let my lord not be angry, and I will speak further. Suppose thirty are found there?” He answered, “I will not do it if I find thirty there.” Then he said, “Since I have ventured to speak to my lord, suppose twenty are found there?” He replied, “I will not destroy it on account of twenty.” Then he said, “Let my lord not be angry, and I will speak one more time. Suppose ten are found there?” He answered, “I will not destroy it on account of ten.” When the Lord had finished speaking with Abraham, he departed, and Abraham returned to his place.”Genesis 18:23-33 CSB “The end of all things is near; therefore, be alert and sober-minded for prayer. Above all, maintain constant love for one another, since love covers a multitude of sins. Be hospitable to one another without complaining. Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve others, as good stewards of the varied grace of God. If anyone speaks, let it be as one who speaks God’s words; if anyone serves, let it be from the strength God provides, so that God may be glorified through Jesus Christ in everything. To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen. Dear friends, don’t be surprised when the fiery ordeal comes among you to test you as if something unusual were happening to you. Instead, rejoice as you share in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may also rejoice with great joy when his glory is revealed. If you are ridiculed for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. Let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or a meddler. But if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed but let him glorify God in having that name. For the time has come for judgment to begin with God’s household, and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who disobey the gospel of God? And if a righteous person is saved with difficulty, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner? So then, let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust themselves to a faithful Creator while doing what is good.” 1 Peter 4:7-19 CSB
