If we let the pride of life keep us from obedience to God, we have a problem and that problem is pride, when we ignore God's word and blatantly live our life the way we think we should we have put ourself above God and let pride rule our life, pride got Lucifer kicked out of heaven, pride caused Adam and Eve to fall, and pride keeps us from surrendering to God which keeps us from salvation, for we must come humbly to the throne of grace surrender our will to God's will and die to ourselves so we may live for Him.
We can blame others and not take personal responsibility for our actions, this just points to our pride problem. If we believe we can make it through this life alone without God we have a pride problem.
We can point to the sin of another and ignore our own sin, we can hate others because of the way they act and not see our own actions, again this is pride, truth is we all deal with pride, the choice is this we either die to self daily and follow God’s word or we ignore God daily and follow our pride, one way leads to eternal life, the other eternal damnation, either way, we make the choice.
Pride is and always has been the root of our problem the problem is not others, it is the pride in us, period.
Let's take our eyes off of ourselves, lets not sugar coat sin and tell ourselves and others it's okay because it is not. God hates sin, not people! Again I say God hates the sin not people, it is time to come to the end of ourselves and follow the simplest of commands. Love the Lord your God with all our hearts, strength and mind and love others as ourselves. Don’t let pride stand in our way, and keep us from being with God for eternity.
God’s word says this;
“To fear the Lord is to hate evil. I hate arrogant pride, evil conduct, and perverse speech. I possess good advice and sound wisdom; I have understanding and strength. It is by me that kings reign and rulers enact just law; by me, princes lead, as do nobles and all righteous judges. I love those who love me, and those who search for me find me. With me are riches and honor, lasting wealth and righteousness. My fruit is better than solid gold, and my harvest than pure silver. I walk in the ways of righteousness, along the paths of justice, giving wealth as an inheritance to those who love me, and filling their treasuries.”Proverbs 8:13-21 CSB
“The highway of the upright avoids evil; the one who guards his way protects his life. Pride comes before destruction, and an arrogant spirit before a fall. Better to be lowly of spirit with the humble than to divide plunder with the proud. The one who understands a matter finds success, and the one who trusts in the Lord will be happy. Anyone with a wise heart is called discerning, and pleasant speech increases learning.”Proverbs 16:17-21 CSB
“You said to yourself, “I will ascend to the heavens; I will set up my throne above the stars of God. I will sit on the mount of the gods’ assembly, in the remotest parts of the North. I will ascend above the highest clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.” But you will be brought down to Sheol into the deepest regions of the Pit.”Isaiah 14:13-15 CSB
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for the kingdom of heaven is theirs. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the humble, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for the kingdom of heaven is theirs. “You are blessed when they insult you and persecute you and falsely say every kind of evil against you because of me.” Matthew 5:3-11 CSB
“He said to them, “Are you also as lacking in understanding? Don’t you realize that nothing going into a person from the outside can defile him? For it doesn’t go into his heart but into the stomach and is eliminated” (thus he declared all foods clean ). And he said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of people’s hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immoralities, thefts, murders, adulteries, greed, evil actions, deceit, self-indulgence, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile a person.”Mark 7:18-23 CSB
