”Comfort is the god of our generation, so suffering is seen as a problem to be solved and not a providence from God. ”
Matt Chandle Our problem today is we are not desperate, we have not suffered, we have to many idols we serve that we have made, we are complacent, we are status quo. Sure we grumble and complain but we do this only because we have to change positions we are carnal glutens and not seeking and serving the Lord. We do not cry out to God in desperation, we do not weep for lost souls, for innocent babies who are killed daily, for morality slipping away from the very foundations of our homes, culture, and churches, we practice our own godlessness. What must God do to wake the church,? What must God do to stir our hearts? Where must God take us as a Nation before we realize how desperate we have become without Him? Israel, Egypt, Greece, Rome, Great Britain, Spain, Germany, France, all once had great Armies, great wealth, great comforts, and enjoyed the providence of God but now are skeletons of who they were. Are we destined to follow in the ways of man away from God? God’s word says this; “The hearts of the people cry out to the Lord. Wall of Daughter Zion, let your tears run down like a river day and night. Give yourself no relief and your eyes no rest. Arise, cry out in the night from the first watch of the night. Pour out your heart like water before the Lord’s presence. Lift up your hands to him for the lives of your children who are fainting from hunger at the head of every street.”Lamentations 2:18-19 CSB When he wrote these words it was too late for Israel for God had already struck them, we must ask God what Abraham did.; “Then the Lord said, “The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is immense, and their sin is extremely serious. I will go down to see if what they have done justifies the cry that has come up to me. If not, I will find out.” The men turned from there and went toward Sodom while Abraham remained standing before the Lord. Abraham stepped forward and said, “Will you really sweep away the righteous with the wicked? What if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away instead of sparing the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people who are in it? You could not possibly do such a thing: to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. You could not possibly do that! Won’t the Judge of the whole earth do what is just?” The Lord said, “If I find fifty righteous people in the city of Sodom, I will spare the whole place for their sake.” Then Abraham answered, “Since I have ventured to speak to my lord — even though I am dust and ashes — suppose the fifty righteous lack five. Will you destroy the whole city for lack of five?” He replied, “I will not destroy it if I find forty-five there.” Then he spoke to him again, “Suppose forty are found there?” He answered, “I will not do it on account of forty.” Then he said, “Let my lord not be angry, and I will speak further. Suppose thirty are found there?” He answered, “I will not do it if I find thirty there.” Then he said, “Since I have ventured to speak to my lord, suppose twenty are found there?” He replied, “I will not destroy it on account of twenty.” Then he said, “Let my lord not be angry, and I will speak one more time. Suppose ten are found there?” He answered, “I will not destroy it on account of ten.” When the Lord had finished speaking with Abraham, he departed, and Abraham returned to his place.”Genesis 18:20-33 CSB Are we desperate enough or broken enough to cry out to God, repent and turn from our ways and follow Him? Will we acknowledge our need for God and His mercy, grace, and love? We need to come together and fervently pray with broken hearts for how we have acted as God's children. “Just as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be in the days of the Son of Man: People went on eating, drinking, marrying and giving in marriage until the day Noah boarded the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. It will be the same as it was in the days of Lot: People went on eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, building. But on the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained from heaven and destroyed them all. It will be like that on the day the Son of Man is revealed. On that day, a man on the housetop, whose belongings are in the house, must not come down to get them. Likewise, the man who is in the field must not turn back. Remember Lot’s wife! Whoever tries to make his life secure will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it. I tell you, on that night two will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other will be left. Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left.” “Where, Lord?” they asked him. He said to them, “Where the corpse is, there also the vultures will be gathered.”Luke 17:26-37 CSB
