The world's s perception of religion is a social gospel, not spiritual, it's either a social gospel or the gospel of Christ. It cannot be both.
When people will turn out in multitudes to be entertained, but avoid the gathering of saints to worship God in His word through the message, through worship music, through prayer and fellowship, and not take the gospel message with them and share Christ, they are living a social gospel, not a Christ-centered gospel. The social gospel is influenced and led by Hollywood or other outside forces, a Christ-centered gospel is spoken to us and we are led by the Holy Spirit. The social gospel changes depending on who has our attention, a Christ-centered gospel never changes. Christianity goes beyond the realm of religion, for Christianity is Spiritual, it is the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit who seals our souls and enters our lives the very moment we surrender to Christ Jesus and starts working in us. Everything from this point in our lives is now new, we are not saved to avoid hell alone, we are created, saved and indwelt by God, through God for God to have a relationship with Him, a Spiritual relationship that will last forever, and to share Him with others! We must surrender to God or the world, if we have not yet surrendered you are missing God at work in you, through you and not completely committed to Him. These are unpleasant truths that we must all deal with, I have and still do, we are to glorify Christ in all we do, you and I can not do this on our own, this is done by the Holy Spirit through us. We have to change our perspective, we have to ask for His help by confession and repentance of our sins, create in us a clean heart and mind, then ask Him to teach us His word daily as we submit to Him, the scriptures are written by the Holy Spirit, why would we not ask for His help to understand them so we can walk in His ways? Let's go the next step with God, He has great things in store but we are settling for what we can do, we need to have faith the size of a mustard seed, walk humbly with God, seek Him first, no turning back, looking back and surrender our all to Him and His work in us and watch as God transforms us. God's word says: “When the Counselor comes, the one I will send to you from the Father — the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father — he will testify about me. You also will testify, because you have been with me from the beginning.” John 15:26-27 CSB “I have told you these things to keep you from stumbling. They will ban you from the synagogues. In fact, a time is coming when anyone who kills you will think he is offering service to God. They will do these things because they haven’t known the Father or me. But I have told you these things so that when their time comes you will remember I told them to you. I didn’t tell you these things from the beginning, because I was with you. But now I am going away to him who sent me, and not one of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’ Yet, because I have spoken these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. Nevertheless, I am telling you the truth. It is for your benefit that I go away, because if I don’t go away the Counselor will not come to you. If I go, I will send him to you. When he comes, he will convict the world about sin, righteousness, and judgment: About sin, because they do not believe in me; about righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you will no longer see me; and about judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged. “I still have many things to tell you, but you can’t bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth. For he will not speak on his own, but he will speak whatever he hears. He will also declare to you what is to come. He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you. Everything the Father has is mine. This is why I told you that he takes from what is mine and will declare it to you.” John 16:1-15 CSB “You adulterous people! Don’t you know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? So whoever wants to be the friend of the world becomes the enemy of God. Or do you think it’s without reason that the Scripture says: The spirit he made to dwell in us envies intensely? But he gives greater grace. Therefore he says: God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” James 4:4-8 CSB “This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light, and there is absolutely no darkness in him. If we say, “We have fellowship with him,” and yet we walk in darkness, we are lying and are not practicing the truth. If we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say, “We have no sin,” we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say, “We have not sinned,” we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”1st John 1:5-10 CSB “He made known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure that he purposed in Christ as a plan for the right time — to bring everything together in Christ, both things in heaven and things on earth in him. In him we have also received an inheritance, because we were predestined according to the plan of the one who works out everything in agreement with the purpose of his will, so that we who had already put our hope in Christ might bring praise to his glory. In him you also were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and when you believed. The Holy Spirit is the down payment of our inheritance, until the redemption of the possession, to the praise of his glory.”Ephesians 1:9-14 CSB “he has inaugurated for us a new and living way through the curtain (that is, through his flesh ) — and since we have a great high priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed in pure water. Let us hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering, since he who promised is faithful. And let us watch out for one another to provoke love and good works, not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching.” Hebrews 10:20-25 CSB
