Pride, prejudice, and power

We have more people today who boast about what they've done and who they are, or think they are than at any other time on earth.

Pride, prejudice, and lust for power seem to rule the hearts of all people, I truly believe most think themselves to be gods, or godlike.

From the beginning the devil used this deception on mankind, because mankind strives for power, in our quest for power we have raised up great armies to fight for it, we have passed laws to keep it, we have killed the innocent to prove we have it, but we have never achieved or ever will achieve, complete power.

This is what I know the closest we have come and most powerful of us all, are those of us who have put our faith and hope in Jesus Christ, for in us dwells the fullness of God, the very same power that formed the universe, that raises up kings and kingdoms, and strikes them down at His will, that raised Christ from the dead is available to you and I.

If we have repented and submitted our life to Christ this is our power, power over sin and death, and no power in the universe will ever separate us from God the Father, our lives are in His hands.

So as for me I will sit at the foot of the cross and marvel that God would save me, that He would use me for His kingdom, His calling, His purpose yes I will boast about Jesus alone, always, for in Him dwells the fullness of God, for He is in His Father, He is in me and I am in Him.

God’s word says this:

“Truly I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do. And he will do even greater works than these, because I am going to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it. “If you love me, you will keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever. He is the Spirit of truth. The world is unable to receive Him because it doesn’t see him or know him. But you do know him, because he remains with you and will be in you. “I will not leave you as orphans; I am coming to you. In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me. Because I live, you will live too. On that day you will know that I am in my Father, you are in me, and I am in you. The one who has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. And the one who loves me will be loved by my Father. I also will love him and will reveal myself to him.”John‬ ‭14:12-21‬ ‭CSB‬‬

“I always thank my God for you because of the grace of God given to you in Christ Jesus, that you were enriched in him in every way, in all speech and all knowledge. In this way, the testimony about Christ was confirmed among you, so that you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ. He will also strengthen you to the end, so that you will be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful; you were called by him into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but it is the power of God to us who are being saved. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will set aside the intelligence of the intelligent. Where is the one who is wise? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the debater of this age? Hasn’t God made the world’s wisdom foolish? For since, in God’s wisdom, the world did not know God through wisdom, God was pleased to save those who believe through the foolishness of what is preached. For the Jews ask for signs and the Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to the Jews and foolishness to the Gentiles. Yet to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God, because God’s foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and God’s weakness is stronger than human strength. Brothers and sisters, consider your calling: Not many were wise from a human perspective, not many powerful, not many of noble birth. Instead, God has chosen what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong. God has chosen what is insignificant and despised in the world — what is viewed as nothing — to bring to nothing what is viewed as something, so that no one may boast in his presence. It is from him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became wisdom from God for us — our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption, in order that, as it is written: Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians‬ ‭1:4-9, 18-31‬ ‭CSB‬‬

“For this reason I kneel before the Father from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named. I pray that he may grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with power in your inner being through his Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. I pray that you, being rooted and firmly established in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the length and width, height and depth of God’s love, and to know Christ’s love that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us — to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”Ephesians‬ ‭3:14-21‬ ‭CSB‬‬
