Living in peace in a chaotic world

How do we live in peace in the midst of chaos or tragedy?

We turn it over to God.

Easy right?

Except for the fact that we are not very good at turning things over to God, we hold on tightly to the things that trouble us as if they were treasure, when in reality these are the things that weigh us down, spiritually, physically and emotionally.

How did Jesus live in peace when everyone was trying to kill Him? He prayed, how did the Apostles live in peace when they arrested and condemned them for their faith? They prayed, they knew where their strength came from, where their hope was, where they were going and they believed and trusted that God was with them and He was, the message God spoke to them, through them changed the world and continues still today.

God’s word tells us that when we give our anxiety and worries to the Lord, we will receive the gift of peace: "and the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus."

When we pray and turn everything over to God, His peace falls on us and fills our hearts and souls! He guards our hearts and minds, and leads us in His ways.

Surrendering all things to God is the secret to living a victorious life, this is why we are told to pray always when we learn to live in prayer we will live in peace!

What worries are you holding on to?
Are you letting fear feed your soul, or are you letting faith free you from the bondage of worry and anxiety?

Trust God, His plans, His ways, for He takes what is broken and makes masterpieces.

God's word says this:

“Ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Who among you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him. Therefore, whatever you want others to do for you, do also the same for them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”Matthew 7:7-12 CSB

“When all the people were baptized, Jesus also was baptized. As he was praying, heaven opened, and the Holy Spirit descended on him in a physical appearance like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well-pleased.” Luke 3:21-22 CSB

“Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every hindrance and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith. For the joy that lay before him, he endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2 CSB

“Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 CSB

“For this reason I kneel before the Father from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named. I pray that he may grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with power in your inner being through his Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. I pray that you, being rooted and firmly established in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the length and width, height and depth of God’s love, and to know Christ’s love that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us — to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” Ephesians 3:14-21 CSB

“Is anyone among you suffering? He should pray. Is anyone cheerful? He should sing praises. Is anyone among you sick? He should call for the elders of the church, and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up; if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect. Elijah was a human being as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the land. Then he prayed again, and the sky gave rain and the land produced its fruit.”James 5:13-18 CSB
