When I look to Jesus I see He was betrayed by His inner circle, one turned Him over for arrest and a few silver coins, one denied Him before the crowds, all ran away.
The Romans and the Jews who listened to Him were healed and fed by Him, pummeled His body, pulled out His hair, spat on Him and beat Him nearly to death, then they mocked Him and crucified Him on a cross. Then looking down from the cross, Jesus in all His humanity, Jesus in all His deity cried out " Father forgive them for they know not what they do" ! What, how could He do this? Jesus did this because He understands the human heart , how selfish and self serving we are , how we are caught up in the moment and desires of our will our flesh, our need for self-survival and nothing else. The story goes on, Jesus after He dies, is buried in a tomb, three days later He is resurrected and as alive as you and I. Do you know for the next forty days He goes around to those who denied Him, mocked Him and even crucified Him, and He serves them, breaks bread with them and performs miracles for them. I don't think I could have done it, I feel like me in my flesh would be like, deny me? See ya! Boom! But that's not who Jesus is, and I am grateful for I have done what His disciples did, betray His love, Deny I know Him and flee in the face of opposition. Jesus loved them, forgave them, poured more of Himself into them, and did it all with joy! He did this for you and I also. That's my example of forgiveness that I must follow if you have deep hurts or know of someone who does share with them the love of Jesus, the story of forgiveness, healing, grace, mercy, and love. I talk with many people that used to go to church but have stopped coming because someone hurt them deeply, betrayed their trust in them and these dark deep wounds they have not healed yet, I get that. My family and I have been cut deep, by people we trusted and those in authority over us. But to be free from this bondage we need Christ to help us forgive, so we may move on with Him. Now is the time to come back to the fellowship of believers, don't let someone else steal your joy, your fellowship looks past their insecurities, their ignorance, their humanity as Christ Jesus has looked past ours and look to Jesus for it is He we serve. Read the story in John 18-21 see what Gods word says please. God’s word says this: “Then Peter approached him and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? As many as seven times?” “I tell you, not as many as seven,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven. “For this reason, the kingdom of heaven can be compared to a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. When he began to settle accounts, one who owed ten thousand talents was brought before him. Since he did not have the money to pay it back, his master commanded that he, his wife, his children, and everything he had be sold to pay the debt. “At this, the servant fell facedown before him and said, ‘Be patient with me, and I will pay you everything’ Then the master of that servant had compassion, released him, and forgave him the loan. “That servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii. He grabbed him, started choking him, and said, ‘Pay what you owe!’ “At this, his fellow servant fell down and began begging him, ‘Be patient with me, and I will pay you back.’ But he wasn’t willing. Instead, he went and threw him into prison until he could pay what was owed. When the other servants saw what had taken place, they were deeply distressed and went and reported to their master everything that had happened. Then, after he had summoned him, his master said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. Shouldn’t you also have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?’ And because he was angry, his master handed him over to the jailers to be tortured until he could pay everything that was owed. So also my heavenly Father will do to you unless every one of you forgives his brother or sister from your heart.”Matthew 18:21-35 CSB “So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. Therefore, put to death what belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desire, and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, God’s wrath is coming upon the disobedient, and you once walked in these things when you were living in them. But now, put away all the following: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and filthy language from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self. You are being renewed in knowledge according to the image of your Creator. In Christ, there is not Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave and free; but Christ is all and in all. Therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and dearly loved, put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another and forgiving one another if anyone has a grievance against another. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you are also to forgive. Above all, put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. And let the peace of Christ, to which you were also called in one body, rule your hearts. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell richly among you, in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:1-17 CSB
