“God is not a man, that he might lie, or a son of man, that he might change his mind. Does he speak and not act, or promise and not fulfill?Numbers 23:19 CSB
What a powerful verse. As humans we try to put our personalities into who God is, we try to define God by how we feel, we are nothing like God most importantly He is nothing like us.
God is not fallible, we are, God does not lie, we do. God does not change, does not age, He has no beginning and no end, when God speaks it is for our benefit and has an eternal meaning. He keeps His promises always and desires that all of mankind comes to Him.
We change daily, we have a beginning and an end, when we speak it is usually for our benefit and for the moment we are in , we try to keep our promises but fall short, and not all of mankind desires to know God.
Who made who? Did we create God in our image? Or did God create us?Let’s get it straight, we did not create God, He created us.
He gave Adam and Eve everything they needed in the beginning and they still wanted more, He still gives us everything we need and we still want more.
Let’s not forget that God is not man, His ways are not our ways, let’s not humanize God and put our fallen nature upon Him.
God did become man in the form of Christ Jesus to show us that we have an advocate that did walk this earth and could overcome this fallen world, He did so to save us from the judgment of sin, which is death, He did so to save us from ourselves because of our pride.
We must do what Christ did and humble ourselves before God our Father and let Him conform us into the image of His Son, Christ. Let us call upon the Holy Spirit to live this life in Christ, when we do we are living in the power of God and not ourselves.
Let’s not put our characteristics on God, rather let’s take up His character so others may see who God really is.
God’s word says this:
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness. They will rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the livestock, the whole earth, and the creatures that crawl on the earth.” So God created man in his own image; he created him in the image of God; he created them male and female. God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it. Rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, and every creature that crawls on the earth.”Genesis 1:1, 26-28 CSB
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. All things were created through him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. That light shines in the darkness, and yet the darkness did not overcome it. The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. We observed his glory, the glory as the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John testified concerning him and exclaimed, “This was the one of whom I said, ‘The one coming after me ranks ahead of me, because he existed before me.’”) Indeed, we have all received grace upon grace from his fullness, for the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God. The one and only Son, who is himself God and is at the Father’s side — he has revealed him.”John 1:1-5, 14-18 CSB
“If then there is any encouragement in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, make my joy complete by thinking the same way, having the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves. Everyone should look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Adopt the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus, who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be exploited. Instead he emptied himself by assuming the form of a servant, taking on the likeness of humanity. And when he had come as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death — even to death on a cross. For this reason God highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow — in heaven and on earth and under the earth — and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Therefore, my dear friends, just as you have always obeyed, so now, not only in my presence but even more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God who is working in you both to will and to work according to his good purpose. Do everything without grumbling and arguing, so that you may be blameless and pure, children of God who are faultless in a crooked and perverted generation, among whom you shine like stars in the world,”Philippians 2:1-15 CSB
“Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens — Jesus the Son of God — let us hold fast to our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin.” “Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need.”Hebrews 4:14-16 CSB
