God wants to be the desire of our hearts, when we start seeking Him and acknowledging Him in all we do we know He is our hearts desire.
When He is the desire of our hearts, then we will see the glory of God shine in us and through us, and everything else will be taken care of.
Yes God wants to give us the desires of our heart, but God is under no obligation to give us those desires when we reject and disobey Him by living the way we want.
Jesus said, seek God first and His righteousness and all our needs will be provided for us, He says this so we will stay focused on loving God and loving others, living faithfully and obediently with Him.
He must be first always, we show our love for Him by our love for others, by when we walk in obedience to His Word and live in faith.
Then our will is lined up with His, and our hearts desires will be what His heart longs for, a personal relationship with His people.
Sometimes God gives us the desires of our hearts because He can, but through our desires, He reveals the wickedness of hearts, when we set idols before God, worship and desire them more than Him, He will remove them.
Are things not going the way they should?
Then stop and ask God for His help, and ask yourself, am I seeking God first?
Who or what do you desire today?
God’s word says this:
“Trust in the Lord and do what is good; dwell in the land and live securely. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act, making your righteousness shine like the dawn, your justice like the noonday.”Psalms 37:3-6 CSB
“I say then, walk by the Spirit and you will certainly not carry out the desire of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is against the Spirit, and the Spirit desires what is against the flesh; these are opposed to each other so that you don’t do what you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, moral impurity, promiscuity, idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambitions, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, carousing, and anything similar. I am warning you about these things — as I warned you before — that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The law is not against such things. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.”Galatians 5:16-26 CSB
“Therefore I tell you: Don’t worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing? Consider the birds of the sky: They don’t sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth more than they? Can any of you add one moment to his life span by worrying? And why do you worry about clothes? Observe how the wildflowers of the field grow: They don’t labor or spin thread. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was adorned like one of these. If that’s how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and thrown into the furnace tomorrow, won’t he do much more for you — you of little faith? So don’t worry, saying, ‘What will we eat? ’ or ‘What will we drink? ’ or ‘What will we wear?’ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you. Therefore don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”Matthew 6:25-34 CSB
Go back and read these promises from Jesus in Matthew, look at His part and then look at yours. God is always the faithful one.
