Do we fear doing the will of God because we fear failing, or do we fear that God will fail us? Real faith starts with prayer, and then listening to the Lord , moving when He says and staying still when He says.
Abraham went when he didn’t know where he was going because God told him to go. Noah built an ark when no one had ever seen rain, because God said so to. Ezekiel laid in front of the city gates, played with figures and told the story of destruction coming because God said it was time to do so. Esther went before the King unannounced to save her people, risking her life but trusting God, for it was her time, Ruth laid at the feet of Boaz to make him her family’s redeemer, the Apostles all left their jobs and comforts when Jesus said follow me.
Faith is more than just words we speak, it is trusting God in all things, accepting His answer and leaving the results up to Him, no matter how ridiculous things may sound to us, no matter how big or small things are, we have to take them to God and trust Him, He alone knows the end from the beginning, He sees all things and knows all things, so why don’t we trust Him always?
Are we seeking God today in every area of our lives?
Do we trust Him for the answers?
Do we wait when God says to wait, and move when God says to move?
Are we living independently of God, or depending on God for all things?
We need to ask God to increase our faith, help us in the areas of our unbelief, and guide us with His wisdom and peace as we face each day, we live in uncertain times, but we belong to God and He certainly will provide all we need.
Faith is facing the unknown with confidence in the God we know, He is with us always to the ends of the earth.
God’s word says this:
“Therefore I, the prisoner in the Lord, urge you to live worthy of the calling you have received, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit — just as you were called to one hope at your calling — one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all. Now grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift.”Ephesians 4:1-7 CSB
“Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will travel to such and such a city and spend a year there and do business and make a profit.” Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring — what your life will be! For you are like vapor that appears for a little while, then vanishes. Instead, you should say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” But as it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.”James 4:13-16 CSB
“Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen.
Now without faith it is impossible to please God, since the one who draws near to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. By faith Noah, after he was warned about what was not yet seen and motivated by godly fear, built an ark to deliver his family. By faith he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith. By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed and set out for a place that he was going to receive as an inheritance. He went out, even though he did not know where he was going. By faith he stayed as a foreigner in the land of promise, living in tents as did Isaac and Jacob, coheirs of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose architect and builder is God.
And what more can I say? Time is too short for me to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and the prophets, who by faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, obtained promises, shut the mouths of lions, quenched the raging of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, gained strength in weakness, became mighty in battle, and put foreign armies to flight. Women received their dead, raised to life again. Other people were tortured, not accepting release, so that they might gain a better resurrection.” Hebrews 11:1, 6-10, 32-35 CSB
