Our tendency is to become complacent where we are when we do, we stop observing and start being absorbed into our surroundings.
We forget that we are in a war, against our flesh, the world and the enemy of our soul, each battle is real and our flesh will betray us into the hands of our enemies for a meal, as Esau did Jacob.
Reading through the Psalms you see this battle come to life, David who recorded most of them shared his battles, his struggles, his fear, his anxiety and failures, but he also shared his victory, his hope, God's grace, love and the fellowship he had with God the Father, and I love that God called him a man after His own heart, David was almost always in pursuit of his relationship with God.
His imperfections are what kept him in that pursuit, and God used that to unite His kingdom and establish His throne on earth.
Our imperfections are who we are, they remind us that we too need to pursue our relationship with God the Father, through Christ the Son, walking daily with them through the Holy Spirit, don't get complacent , we are in a battle against many foes, keep renewing your soul in the living waters of God's word, through and fellowship with other believers.
The enemy wants to isolate us, let us unite, be God's people, people after His heart and watch as the kingdom of God grows in each of us and unites us against our enemies .
God's Word says:
“Protect me, God, for I take refuge in you. I said to the Lord, “You are my Lord; I have nothing good besides you.” As for the holy people who are in the land, they are the noble ones. All my delight is in them. The sorrows of those who take another god for themselves will multiply; I will not pour out their drink offerings of blood, and I will not speak their names with my lips. Lord, you are my portion and my cup of blessing; you hold my future. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance. I will bless the Lord who counsels me — even at night when my thoughts trouble me. I always let the Lord guide me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my whole being rejoices; my body also rests securely. For you will not abandon me to Sheol; you will not allow your faithful one to see decay. You reveal the path of life to me; in your presence is abundant joy; at your right hand are eternal pleasures.”Psalms 16:1-11 CSB
“How happy are those whose way is blameless, who walk according to the Lord’s instruction! Happy are those who keep his decrees and seek him with all their heart.
If only my ways were committed to keeping your statutes! Then I would not be ashamed when I think about all your commands. I will praise you with an upright heart when I learn your righteous judgments. I will keep your statutes; never abandon me. How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping your word. I have sought you with all my heart; don’t let me wander from your commands. I have treasured your word in my heart so that I may not sin against you. Lord, may you be blessed; teach me your statutes. With my lips I proclaim all the judgments from your mouth. I rejoice in the way revealed by your decrees as much as in all riches. I will meditate on your precepts and think about your ways. I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget your word.
My life is down in the dust; give me life through your word. I told you about my life, and you answered me; teach me your statutes. Help me understand the meaning of your precepts so that I can meditate on your wonders. I am weary from grief; strengthen me through your word. Keep me from the way of deceit and graciously give me your instruction. I have chosen the way of truth; I have set your ordinances before me. I cling to your decrees; Lord, do not put me to shame. I pursue the way of your commands, for you broaden my understanding.
Help me stay on the path of your commands, for I take pleasure in it.
Never take the word of truth from my mouth, for I hope in your judgments.
The Lord is my portion; I have promised to keep your words. I have sought your favor with all my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise. I thought about my ways and turned my steps back to your decrees.
It was good for me to be afflicted so that I could learn your statutes. Instruction from your lips is better for me than thousands of gold and silver pieces. Your hands made me and formed me; give me understanding so that I can learn your commands. Those who fear you will see me and rejoice, for I put my hope in your word. I know, Lord, that your judgments are just and that you have afflicted me fairly. May your faithful love comfort me as you promised your servant. May your compassion come to me so that I may live, for your instruction is my delight.
May my heart be blameless regarding your statutes so that I will not be put to shame. I long for your salvation; I put my hope in your word.
Give me life in accordance with your faithful love, and I will obey the decree you have spoken. Lord, your word is forever; it is firmly fixed in heaven. Your faithfulness is for all generations; you established the earth, and it stands firm.
I have solemnly sworn to keep your righteous judgments.
Deal with your servant based on your faithful love; teach me your statutes. I am your servant; give me understanding so that I may know your decrees.
I rise before dawn and cry out for help; I put my hope in your word. I am awake through each watch of the night to meditate on your promise. In keeping with your faithful love, hear my voice. Lord, give me life in keeping with your justice.” Psalms 119:1-2, 5-16, 25-32, 35, 43, 57-59, 71-77, 80-81, 88-90, 106, 124-125, 147-149 CSB
