If we need music, sermons, fellowship with others to even think about God, then He is not who we are worshipping, we are worshipping a god we have made and visit weekly, an idol in our hearts.
Don’t take the following statement wrong ,for I too love worship music, old hymns, new praise songs, old hymns with new tempo, I love corporate worship in the word of God as we come together weekly to be encouraged and moved by God’s word and fellowship with other believers, we all need this to press on and grow in God’s grace and knowledge.
But; the problem is this to most in the world especially here in America these times are the only times they think about God or worship God or speak His name or, to Him.
Here we have so many objects to remind us of God that we have lost reverence for Him. We have forgotten He is Holy, majestic, righteous, loving, and merciful. We have also forgotten that He is jealous, He has given us laws to live by and His Holiness demands us His children to be holy.
God’s presence should consume us, He should be on our hearts, on our minds always. His praise should be with every breath we take, His grace should show in every word we speak, His love should reach through us in every deed we do.
We should live as sons and daughters of God, the creator of all things.
First we must submit to God’s grace and gift of salvation, second we must submit to God’s authority over all of our lives, third we must ask Him to empty us of us and fill us with His Holy Spirit, we must want God more than anyone, than anything, He alone must rule our hearts.
Oh God, my Father, may your fire consume all of me from this day forth until you call me home, may others see your flames of love, grace, mercy, peace, joy, and strength and may your Holiness shine upon my face that others will know you alone are my God.
Gods’ word says this!
“Lord, there is no one like you among the gods, and there are no works like yours. All the nations you have made will come and bow down before you, Lord, and will honor your name. For you are great and perform wonders; you alone are God. Teach me your way, Lord, and I will live by your truth. Give me an undivided mind to fear your name. I will praise you with all my heart, Lord my God, and will honor your name forever. For your faithful love for me is great, and you rescue my life from the depths of Sheol.”Psalms 86:8-13 CSB
“Be careful not to forget the covenant of the Lord your God that he made with you, and make an idol for yourselves in the shape of anything he has forbidden you. For the Lord, your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God. “When you have children and grandchildren and have been in the land a long time, and if you act corruptly, make an idol in the form of anything, and do what is evil in the sight of the Lord your God, angering him, I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you today that you will quickly perish from the land you are about to cross the Jordan to possess. You will not live long there, but you will certainly be destroyed.”Deuteronomy 4:23-26 CSB
“Pursue peace with everyone, and holiness — without it no one will see the Lord. Make sure that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no root of bitterness springs up, causing trouble and defiling many. And make sure that there isn’t any immoral or irreverent person like Esau, who sold his birthright in exchange for a single meal. For you know that later, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, even though he sought it with tears, because he didn’t find any opportunity for repentance. For you have not come to what could be touched, to a blazing fire, to darkness, gloom, and storm, to the blast of a trumpet, and the sound of words. Those who heard it begged that not another word be spoken to them, for they could not bear what was commanded: If even an animal touches the mountain, it must be stoned. The appearance was so terrifying that Moses said, I am trembling with fear. Instead, you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God (the heavenly Jerusalem), to myriads of angels, a festive gathering, to the assembly of the firstborn whose names have been written in heaven, to a Judge, who is God of all, to the spirits of righteous people made perfect, and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood, which says better things than the blood of Abel. See to it that you do not reject the one who speaks. For if they did not escape when they rejected him who warned them on earth, even less will we if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven. His voice shook the earth at that time, but now he has promised, Yet once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens. This expression, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of what can be shaken — that is, created things — so that what is not shaken might remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful. By it, we may serve God acceptably, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.”Hebrews 12:14-29 CSB
