Yesterday is a cruel taskmaster, that reminds us only of who we were.
Tomorrow is a liar, whose day has not yet come. Today is the day, we are given it to live as if it were our last, love in each moment, lead in confidence, and worship Christ our creator with all we are. I don't know about you but my enemies are always reminding me of days gone by; or trying to deceive me into believing that tomorrow holds great trials and tribulations, it is a constant battle of spirit and flesh. The Holy Spirit, on the other hand, says gently and with all authority, yes that is who you were; but Christ bore our judgment upon the cross the Father accepted His sacrifice for our sins, we are forgiven and free from those days, our sins are forgotten. The Holy Spirit reminds us that only God knows what tomorrow will hold, that He is with us and will never leave us or forsake us, that we are safe in the Hands of God our Father. Our enemies the flesh, the world, the devil and his army are powerful, they are many and for us unbeatable, they hide like assassins in plain sight waiting to ambush, to overtake, to kill, steal and destroy. No one is immune to these attacks, not one of us is infallible, we are all daily walking a fine line of grace, mercy, and faith, this is why we must without fail renew our minds daily, never take the full armor of God off, pray constantly, be sober-minded, lay aside every hindrance of this world, stand strong in the faith. These are all commands we are given because God knows our weaknesses, He says that He gives us a way out when we are tempted. The devil knows our weaknesses and he says go ahead no one will know. God never gives us more than He can handle. How we respond in life makes the difference, we must resolve in our hearts to follow Christ no matter what, to read His word, walk with Him, every moment of every day without fail. Christ defeated the world, the flesh, the devil and his army, we need to keep our eyes on Him, our hope in Him and walk by the grace He gives us daily through His eternal gift of salvation. God's word says this: “Nevertheless, I am telling you the truth. It is for your benefit that I go away, because if I don’t go away the Counselor will not come to you. If I go, I will send him to you. When he comes, he will convict the world about sin, righteousness, and judgment: About sin, because they do not believe in me; about righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you will no longer see me; and about judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged. “I still have many things to tell you, but you can’t bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth. For he will not speak on his own, but he will speak whatever he hears. He will also declare to you what is to come. He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you. Everything the Father has is mine. This is why I told you that he takes from what is mine and will declare it to you. Indeed, an hour is coming, and has come, when each of you will be scattered to his own home, and you will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me. I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world.”John 16:7-15, 32-33 CSB “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus, because the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death. What the law could not do since it was weakened by the flesh, God did. He condemned sin in the flesh by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh as a sin offering, in order that the law’s requirement would be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit have their minds set on the things of the Spirit. Now the mind-set of the flesh is death, but the mind-set of the Spirit is life and peace. The mind-set of the flesh is hostile to God because it does not submit to God’s law. Indeed, it is unable to do so. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. You, however, are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to him.”Romans 8:1-9 CSB “Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by His vast strength. Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this darkness, against evil, spiritual forces in the heavens. For this reason take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand. Stand, therefore, with truth like a belt around your waist, righteousness like armor on your chest,“and your feet sandaled with readiness for the gospel of peace.”In every situation take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit — which is the word of God. Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints.”Ephesians 6:10-18 CSB “For although we live in the flesh, we do not wage war according to the flesh, since the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but are powerful through God for the demolition of strongholds. We demolish arguments and every proud thing that is raised up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to obey Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 CSB “Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every hindrance and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith. For the joy that lay before him, he endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”Hebrews 12:1-2 CSB
