Fighting back against the enemy involves prayer, scripture reading, and fellowship.
Giving into the enemies demands involves life, as usual, get up go, work, go to school, play, repeat.
The enemy does what we allow him to do, he only deceives us and leads us from the truth so others will not see Christ in us.
What will you do today?
Either way, we are in the battle, we must choose to either submit to God’s authority or surrender our day to the enemy.
If you haven’t submitted yet today, stop what you’re doing and do so now, It’s not too late to fight back!
God’s word say this;
“For although we live in the flesh, we do not wage war according to the flesh, since the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but are powerful through God for the demolition of strongholds. We demolish arguments and every proud thing that is raised up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to obey Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 CSB
“Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by his vast strength. Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this darkness, against evil, spiritual forces in the heavens. For this reason take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand. Stand, therefore, with truth like a belt around your waist, righteousness like armor on your chest, and your feet sandaled with readiness for the gospel of peace. In every situation take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit — which is the word of God. Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints.” Ephesians 6:10-18 CSB
The summer of 2002 was the year our faith grew by leaps and bounds, four years into our journey with Christ we came to the fork in the road and had to decide if we trusted God wholeheartedly or just with our mouths.
Our 2nd oldest who is now 24, thanks to God’s grace was always sick as a child, running nose, sore throat, headaches, feeling down and the doctors were at the end of trying to figure it out, they had made an appointment for Ronda to take him to Children’s Hospital , to do a cat-scan, it was a couple months down the road but she received a phone call in a couple days someone had canceled and they moved us up to that day, so they did the scan and had them wait for results, they came out and told her that they wanted to admit our son right away and do surgery, for they found a tumor at the base of his brain and it was causing all his problems it could be cancerous.
Shock and dismay are the closest words I could come up with, Ronda was at the hospital with our son and I was at work, I get the phone call and again shock and dismay, you’re mind and soul run the gamete of questions of Why? How? What? God are you here? Are you seeing this?
I call my brothers in Christ and my mentor who is discipling me and start people praying for God to show up and fix this. For the next two weeks of our lives, we lived at the hospital both of us, family and friends helped in ways only God could move in taking care of our children at home bringing them up to us and pressing into God through prayer.
We felt helpless as our little boy lay there sick waiting on tests results so they could do surgery, God sent the best surgeon in the States to do surgery on him, and God sent His Holy Spirit to comfort us as this all took place, He surrounded us with family and friends and we had Church daily, especially during the surgery, for 8 hours they operated to remove as much of the tumor as possible, our little boy lay there in the hands of God and we could only trust Him to bring our son through. Even now it is hard too write this without being emotional, it seems as if only yesterday these events took place.
We had no other choice but to trust God, our fears, our worries, our thoughts all raced in every direction, but God’s peace filled that place, when God moves things change.
There were probably 100 to 150 people there with us throughout the day sharing in what God had laid on their hearts, praying with us, sitting in silence with us, reading scripture with us, singing praises to God with us, and God let us know we are not alone, nor would we be, ever.
The Surgeon came out later, said they removed as much as possible of the tumor, told us that they almost lost our little boy a couple of times because of where the tumor was, but for some reason he would pull out of the decline, there is no doubt that this was the hands of God, holding our son and keeping him.
Our faith grew like never before through this trial, and God has touched lives in ways we will never understand, the hospital staff, our church, our neighbors, our friends, our family and co-workers all seen God move in a way only He could move.
We had too choose if we trusted God or not, we were helpless but not hopeless. We had too surrender our little boy to the hands and will of our creator and seek His face for strength, faith, hope, peace, mercy and grace.
We learned that when all you have is God ,you have more than anyone else.
I know that things always don’t turn out as we planned, that endings are not always happy, there are stories of our faith and the faith of others that we don’t understand the outcome of and we wonder why God this happened, but God is always in control and sees things from an eternal perspective.
He promised that He is with us, that things will turn out for our good and His glory, He promises that He will never give us more than He can handle, and when we surrender to Him , He will take care of the results.
Today maybe a day of challenge for you, as I write this I am praying that God speaks to you as never before, this I know wherever you are, whatever you’re going through God is with you if you’re His, He has already seen the end result and will see you through.
God’s word says this:
“Haven’t I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 CSB
“Now this is what the Lord says — the one who created you, Jacob, and the one who formed you, Israel — “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are mine. I will be with you when you pass through the waters, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. You will not be scorched when you walk through the fire, and the flame will not burn you.”
Isaiah 43:1-2 CSB
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His faithful love endures forever.
He alone does great wonders. His faithful love endures forever. He made the heavens skillfully. His faithful love endures forever.
He remembered us in our humiliation His faithful love endures forever. and rescued us from our foes. His faithful love endures forever. He gives food to every creature. His faithful love endures forever. Give thanks to the God of heaven! His faithful love endures forever.”
Psalms 136:1, 4-5, 23-26 CSB
“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that he may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your cares on him, because he cares about you. Be sober-minded, be alert. Your adversary the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour. Resist him, firm in the faith, knowing that the same kind of sufferings are being experienced by your fellow believers throughout the world. The God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, establish, strengthen, and support you after you have suffered a little while. To him be dominion forever. Amen.”
1 Peter 5:6-11 CSB
